Abstract:
In past 5-6 years, NGN has been the hot topics in service provider, a wave of new buzz words have been flying around in telecom industry for some time. Among all, Softswitch, VoIP and IMS are some of most frequent terms used in NGN discussion. They all sound or look same but they are many difference in principles. For most service providers, those causes confusing. This presentation analyzes the unique challenge and opportunity the service providers are facing today and help them to identify the true trend in telecom industry and technology. New terminology not only bring the new technology and new products, but the new thinking and new concept. The presentation will help audience to focus the meaning behind all buzz words and the strategy service providers may consider.

Speaker Biography:
In past five years, He is lead architect to design all major Cisco NGN/VoIP production network in China and is one of key solution architect for Cisco NGN/VoIP service provider customers in AsiaPac.

Kevin Yin has 18 year experience in telecommunication and networking industry. He started his telecom industry career as Software Developer in Motorola Corp U.S.A and Development
Manager in Network General Corp U.S.A. Prior to joining Cisco, he worked as Senior Technical Consultant of Bell lab for Lucent Technology U.S.A. He has been working in areas of network signaling and architecture, switching and IN application. His expertise and interests including network design, PTSN signaling, packet protocols analysis and designs.

Kevin Yin has been publishing several technical papers on SP NGN in recent years, he was frequently invited as keynote or guest speaker in various forums. He is also a lecture for advanced technology topics in Cisco Networker for past 5 years.<back>
