Topic: “The Opportunity and the Reality: The Transformation
of the Telecom Network Evolution”
Speaker: Mr Patrick Fitzgerald, Sr. Vice President, Sales &
Marketing, AppTrigger
Abstract
Since the 1980’s, the holy grail of telecom has been the
concept of decoupling applications from network equipment to
speed deployment of new applications in existing networks
and to open the network to a larger ecosystem of application
developers. This would provide the service providers a
competitive edge relative to time to market, customer
satisfaction, ARPU and innovation. Service providers need to
know how to create, provision, migrate and manage profitable
services on top of a converging and evolving network
infrastructure. “Time to Market,” if not “First to Market,”
is a critical success factor for new services being rolled
out. Not only is the challenge to be first to market but
today’s consumer expectations are that these new services
will provide feature transparency across networks. Namely,
all applications should be available with a consistent user
experience across the multiple underlying networks – fixed,
mobile, or IP, regardless of network access.
This session will explore a wide variety of critical telecom
technologies all positioned to address the complexities of
the network evolution.
